SPEECH DEBELLE LOVE MUSIC LOVE FOOD
In aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, over 60 musicians have come together for a book that merges iconic portraits with captivating recipes, accompanied by personalised interviews. Speech features in the book alongside Paloma Faith, Kasabian, Johnny Borell and Noel Fielding.

Memories for Speech Debelle are created through food. So what better way to remember food than to be one of the contributors to LoveMusicLoveFood: The Rock Star Cookbook. So far her part in LoveMusicLoveFood: The Rock Star Cookbook, Speech plucked for jerk spice as her favourite culinary delight.
According to the 2009 Mercury-prize winner, Jamaican food is the perfect takeaway, but what makes great jerk? “Got to be a Scotch bonnet pepper, obviously. A lot of other chillies are heat without flavour, but the Scotch bonnet has a very particular scent to it. You need plenty of herbs and you have to cook it over a fire or it’s not real jerk.”
But it’s not just jerk and Jamaica that bring back great memories for Speech. Glasgow brings back memories of the best salmon she’s ever tasted, Poland brings back memories of amazing fried potato, unlike anything else she’s ever tasted, and Australia is where she discovered cinnamon poussin, salmon and mascarpone pizza, declaring it “Best pizza topping ever.”
